Redress for Sexual Abuse

UCA Redress Ltd is a company established by the Uniting Church in Australia to serve as the national body for the Church's response to and support for children and vulnerable persons who have suffered abuse at the hands of the Uniting Church or its institutions. This includes participation in a nationally consistent and equitable redress scheme.

About Redress for Sexual Abuse

The Uniting Church in Australia acknowledges its responsibility for past abuses of children in its care and commits to addressing these issues with compassion and humility. Guided by its values and teachings, the Church emphasises the importance of truth and justice, pledging to support survivors and apologise to those affected by sexual abuse. It welcomes the establishment of a Royal Commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse and promises full cooperation. The Church recognises the serious nature of allegations and aims to provide fair and compassionate redress for survivors, ensuring a respectful response to complaints. Additionally, it seeks to improve practices for handling past abuse allegations and advocates for a national acknowledgment and reparation fund to support victims and their families, reflecting a commitment to healing and justice in light of the Senate Inquiry report “Forgotten Australians.”
